1. General information disclaimer

Everything on Crochet Calc is published for general informational and educational purposes only. We are crocheters and writers, not licensed financial advisors, lawyers, occupational therapists, or medical professionals. Information on this site should not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional in those fields.

2. Calculator accuracy disclaimer

Our calculators are planning aids, not guarantees. Real-world results vary based on factors no online tool can perfectly model — your personal tension, yarn batch variance, fibre behaviour during blocking, hook material, and many others. We strongly recommend:

  • Always making a 4×4 inch gauge swatch in your actual yarn and hook before starting a project.
  • Adding a 10–15 % yardage buffer to any calculator estimate.
  • Buying yarn from a single dye lot for any single-colour project where possible.

We test calculators against real projects and aim for ±5 % accuracy, but we do not guarantee any specific outcome.

3. Pricing-calculator disclaimer

The pricing calculator generates a recommended price based on inputs you provide. The output is not a guarantee that your item will sell at that price, a guarantee of profitability, or financial advice. Market prices for handmade items vary by region, niche, sales channel, and customer base. Use the calculator's output as a floor for your own pricing research, not as a finished business plan.

4. Health and ergonomics disclaimer

Some articles touch on hand health, ergonomic hooks, and posture during crochet. These are written from practitioner experience and general industry guidance, not from clinical training. If you experience persistent pain, numbness, or repetitive-strain symptoms, consult a qualified healthcare professional — not a website.

5. Affiliate disclosure

Some links on this site are affiliate links. This means if you click the link and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission from the retailer at no additional cost to you. Affiliate programmes we may participate in include the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, ShareASale partner programmes, and direct affiliate schemes with yarn and tool brands.

Per US Federal Trade Commission guidelines, this is our standing disclosure that some outbound product links are affiliated. Articles containing affiliate links are also noted individually at the top.

We only link to products we use, have tested, or strongly recommend based on our own experience. The presence of an affiliate link never changes our editorial coverage. We will tell you when a non-affiliated alternative is genuinely better.

6. Advertising disclosure

Some pages display advertisements served by Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this site and others on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or via the industry opt-out at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.

Ads are served by third-party vendors. We do not control which specific ads appear on any given page view, and we do not endorse the products advertised. Editorial content is kept separate from advertising.

7. Testimonials and case studies

Where we describe a project being made — for example, "an 8-hour amigurumi elephant that took 6 yards of worsted" — we are describing a real, specific project we made or were shown. We do not invent case studies. Numbers in case studies are illustrative of one outcome, not a typical result you will achieve.

8. External links disclaimer

This site links to external resources we find useful — the Craft Yarn Council, Crochet Guild of America, specific designer blogs, retailers, and research papers. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any external site. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement of every position taken by the linked site.

9. Trademark notice

Third-party trademarks mentioned in our articles (Etsy, Ravelry, Amazon, specific yarn brands, hook brands) belong to their respective owners. Their use here is purely descriptive and does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation.

10. "Results not typical"

Any quantitative claim about outcomes ("crocheters who price using our calculator earn 3× more on Etsy," for example — a claim we do not in fact make) would not be a guarantee of your individual result. Your outcomes depend on factors specific to you. We aim to give you good tools and good information; we cannot guarantee what you do with them.

11. Contact

Affiliate disclosure

Some pages on this site may contain affiliate links — URLs that, when clicked, take you to a third-party retailer (such as Amazon, LoveCrafts, or yarn brand stores) and earn us a small commission if you make a purchase. The commission does not increase your purchase price and does not affect our recommendations.

All affiliate links are clearly disclosed at or near the point of use. We never disguise affiliate links as editorial recommendations, and we never modify our recommendations based on which products pay higher commission rates. We prioritise the quality and suitability of the product over commission rates. If we recommend a product with no available affiliate program over one with a generous affiliate program, that is because we genuinely believe the recommended product is the better choice for our readers.

Advertising disclosure

We may display advertising on this site, served either by direct partnerships or by automated advertising networks (such as Google AdSense). Advertisements are visually distinct from editorial content and clearly labelled. We do not have editorial control over the specific ads shown to individual users — the advertising network determines this based on its targeting algorithms.

Our editorial content is not influenced by current or potential advertisers. We do not write articles to promote specific advertisers, and we do not soften criticism of products from advertisers. If an ad you see contradicts content on this site, the content reflects our editorial position; the ad reflects the advertiser's marketing.

Medical and health disclaimer

Articles on this site that discuss hand health, repetitive strain injuries, ergonomics, or any related topic are provided for educational purposes only and are not medical advice. We are not licensed healthcare providers. If you experience hand, wrist, or arm pain that does not resolve quickly with rest, consult a qualified healthcare professional rather than relying on any content on this site.

Information about specific medical conditions (carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, arthritis, etc.) is provided as general background. Diagnosis and treatment decisions should be made in consultation with a healthcare provider who can evaluate your specific situation. Reliance on any information from this site for medical decision-making is at your own risk.

Educational use only

All calculators, formulas, charts, and educational content on this site are provided for personal educational use. Commercial use (incorporating our calculators into your own products, republishing our articles, using our content in paid courses) requires explicit written permission. The calculators are designed to produce reasonable estimates for typical crochet projects — they are not warranted for industrial, commercial-production, or other professional use where precision matters more than our consumer-grade calculations provide.

Results from our calculators are estimates based on typical yarn behaviour, average tension, and standard stitch patterns. Your actual results may vary based on your specific yarn brand, your individual tension, your specific stitch choices, and your blocking practices. We recommend treating calculator outputs as starting points and verifying with gauge swatches before purchasing yarn for large projects.
